Kate studied wood and ceramics at university, eventually specialising in ceramics. She has always loved the unique properties of wood and the texture, grain and warmth of the material.

These containers came about after she had collected a box full of beautiful lids that had been salvaged from raku firings over more than a decade.

As it would be difficult to make a ceramic pot to fit the lids retrospectively, Kate approached a fellow guild member to see if he could make up her designs in wood to fit the surviving lids.

The new range began there.

The pots and lids are made in either ebonised oak or walnut and are hand turned on a lathe.
